While waiting for my car to arrive from Oregon, I had to rent a car in Maryland. The rental

My car finally arrived on a big, three-trailer auto transport. It was a pretty amazing system. Here is a picture of the truck. The red mustang lifted up and the black car was backed out. My car was snug up in the front of the trailer.
I've heard it commented that at least one of the big automakers should be forced into an adjacent space by the bail out money, such as retooling their existing tech and production facilities to create the next gen of rail and to beef up the nation's rail transport system. I'm sure many people would consider a trip by rail from LA to NY if it was on a bullet/mag-lev train and could be done in 1 day instead of 3 or 4. I agree that in particular, GM stands out as having particularly crappy cars. When we were in Oregon, we rented a tin can Chevy. It was totally gutless and was a death trap because it was so light. (Yeah, yeah. I DID drive my family around in it...) Anyway, we drove from Portland down to Roseburg to visit relatives so entirely freeway driving. The gas milage for the trip? 29MPH!!!! My Acura gets WAY better than that and is a much sweeter ride. Hell, my wife's VW Passat wagon gets better than that and it's a way too heavy piece of crap. Useless American cars. The engineers should be totally ashamed.
